I used to shave with the Gillette twin blade razor. That is, until they came out with the triple blade 'system' - when I switched over to that. After a while they came out with the Quattro and I said, "What the heck, lets keep up with the times". Finally, when Gillette introduced the Schtick (or some such monstrosity) a bulb went on in my head. It seems to me that they want to innovate for the sake of innovation.

That's when I decided to try out the old tried and tested solution and know what? I am never going back. It used to take me atleast 4-5 rinses every time I shave using a multiple blade 'system'. That's because the blades are so close together that hair gets trapped between the blades. They promise you a closer shave and all that, but I haven't seen any difference.

My double edged razor - the same one that my dad and probably his dad used to shave with - gives me a very close shave and I only rinse once and even then I just hold it under water and all the hair is gone. With the Gillettes I used to have to rub it with my fingers to get all the hair off!

Not the least is the feeling of manliness you get when you shave with a double edged razor. Yes, it's not a straight edge, but this is why I like it. It is innovation where they've made a good product (straight edge) better and safer!

I use a Merkur Long Handled Safety Razor with these blades. Best decision I've made in a long time.

I'm definitely not an expert, this is the one and only shaving brush I've ever used, so I can't really compare it to others, but hey, it works!
Builds up a nice lather and gets it onto my face... I've used it regularly for about 2 months now and it's holding up nicely; no hair loss, no damage to the wooden handle, holding its shape, etc., etc., etc.

As I write this review, it's selling for .25 (I paid .52) I would have been equally pleased with it at twice the price!

I've recently begun moving from the marketing driven shaving devices I've used for the past 20+ years (Fusion, etc) to a more traditional shaving experience. I purchased the Merkur 38HD to complement my use of a straight razor, and all I can say is "Wow". The shaving experience is far superior to anything else I've ever used.

The razor itself is solid. Like any good piece of hardware the Merkur has good construction, heft, and quality materials. You know that this is an item that you will be able to use for many years to come. The replacement of blades is simple and straightforward.

This product is wonderful. Each one of the 100 razor works just fine with the cheapo straightblades I bought off ebay a few months ago for 8 dollars, and they even come with receptacles for used blades, that way you don't kill cute furry animals that live in the landfills, and the garbagemen get to keep their appendages.

If you want "the best a man can get" then this is it. These blades are great! They are manufactured in Germany and are very well-made. With Wilkinson I use a Merkur Classic "Barber Pole" long safety razor which I got here from Amazon. I brush on a little sandalwood shave cream and a few smooth moves later I'm soft as a baby's... well, you know. It's nice to engage in one of those forgotten rituals that remind a man why it's great to be a man. Proper shaving has become a lost art for most men, but it doesn't have to be for you. While I hear that getting one of the variety blade packs is best for a new safety-razor shaver, this deal was too good to pass up so I had to order it.

These blades are incredibly sharp. They come in a big green thin cardboard box and there's 20 little plastic boxes inside with 5 razors each. On other blade-holders you get a slot on the bottom to put your old blades when they get dull, that is not the case here. The bottom is solid and instead you have to open the little flapdoor in order to take out AND put in (old) blades. There are 2 compartments in the main compartment, one for new, one for old. That's not an issue, just saying how these are different from other blades I have used.

These blades are incredibly sharp, and I would definitely say that they are sharper than the Sharks that came with my safety razor when I bought it. The blades are great.

The Arko soap is the main draw for me to this deal. I thought it would be terrible and messy. It's not. It's honestly kind of amazing to rip a little bit of the foil off one end, wet your face, wet the stick, rub the stick on your face and get no lather or way of knowing you have soap on your face whatsoever, and then take your wet brush and smother your face with it and all of a suddenly lather magically forms on your face and brush, enough for like 3 passes. A little goes a long way and its really great but you need to watch the moisture content of your brush as you are building the lather right on your face and there's no way of knowing its too wet until it starts dripping all over your sink off your face. Everyone in my household loves the smell (except the dog and the cats who ran away). It's honestly really strong, but not unpleasant. It kind of smells like that blue toiletbowl cleaner that they always doublewrap at the grocery store because the stuff is so caustic. It smells like that except more fresh and manly like musky Dove soap I guess. Let the stick dry when you're done, and don't be messy and it wont fall apart. It's honestly not that easy to ruin and even if you do it's cheap. I read some people smash it into a bowl and use it like a traditional shave soap. I don't get why you would do that when the stickform is so convenient. NO BOWL NO MUG just the stick and your brush. After using Arko I kind of feel that building lather in a mug is a waste of time. I wish Proraso had a shave-stick.

With as cheap as the blades are, you can use a fresh blade every time you shave. With as cheap and great as the Arko is, you don't have to waste money trying other fancy shaving soaps and getting a sub-par shave. Arko, and C.O. Bigelow and these blades are wonderful. You don't need anything else.

So since this isn't sold by amazon, I'm mainly reviewing the seller (Wish4Star).

I received this order in a "timely" fashion (it's shipped standard USPS and so took a few days... maybe 5 or so). All the items in the pic showed up and the packaging was compact and secure.

However, upon going through all the razors (great selection of blades BTW), I noticed that one box had been opened and a razor had been opened! Yuck!! So I contacted the seller and he assured me this had never happened before (I have a feeling he's telling the truth) and that he would send me a new box asap. Well I just received my replacements (yeah he sent an extra pack!), which showed up quite quickly.

So all in all I trust this seller & had a very positive experience with him. I will most likely be purchasing in bulk from him once I settle on a single brand of razor.

SO glad i switched back to the old school of shaving. avereage out 100 blades almost comes out to .13 cents per 3 time of shaving. I laugh everytime Change blades now. THe MOck 3 blades where so expensive that you would be using them longer to save money and getting a bad shave And waste of $$$.
NOw i use SHark blades max 3 times. Its so affordable that i dont hesitate to change blades.Havent tried other blades but so far happy with SHark super CHromes stopped looking for others.ONce you relearn how to shave theres no going back to the MOck 3 racket$$$$.

Great safety razor with 100 blades included. First time using this type of shave system and it was by far the fastest and closest shave ever. I found that using it along with a good moisturizing shave cream allows it to glide so easy and fast. This ends up being a much better value than commercial multi-blade razors and this gives a a shave thats as close as you can get. Smooth!

Last year I finally got fed up with paying extortion prices to Gillette. I tried an electric razor for about a month and that sucked (Braun). So next step I decided to try wet shaving. Purchased this razor, some blades, a cheap badger brush, and some shaving cream (Taylor of Old Bond Street).

Everything has worked out great. I have a giant beard that grows quickly. I often skip a week or so of shaving and have no problem cutting it down with this setup (cuts through the beard without pulling). Best shave I've every gotten and I wish I'd started this sooner.

I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing all this stuff, but it has worked out great. Took about a week of shaving to get adjusted, and after that not much of a problem. Just take it slow and check out some of the sites online dedicated to wet shaving for tips.

If you're contemplating make the jump, do it! You will save money in the long run at the expense of about 5 minutes per shave.

I have dropped this razor without issue. I have used it exclusively since November 2009. I can only compare it to the cartridge razors I used before. This has a much heavier feel. I cannot compare to other safety razors though. This is the only one I've owned, and may be the only one I'll ever need.

Only problem I have ever had was the occasional clog. Crank the water up or unscrew the bottom 1 turn and it's gone. This is probably not normal though. As I said earlier I sometimes skip a week or two of shaving and my nick name in high school was Teen Wolf.

Opinions seem to vary wildly when it comes to DE blades, but I found Crystals to be one of the best performing brands for my face. For context, I've tried Derby, red pack Personnas, Astra, Iridiums, Gillette 7 O'clock, Shark, Dorco, Lord, and Bic. It's my understanding the Crystals are rebranded Israeli Personnas, which I've also tried and liked a lot.

Not a bad DE razor considering the price. Better quality than other cheaper ones but not the "top notch" quality people say Merkurs have. It's solidly build and will last a long time but the finish isn't the best.

Another issue is the handle, it's fairly short so it might take a few shaves to get used to it.

I liked it though, it's not overly aggressive, it's forgiving, fairly well balanced, and original looking considering today's standards.

The design is great if you want something with some "character" but don't want to buy a used antique razor.

Again, not a bad razor for the price but I wouldn't pay much more for it. There are other brands out there that offer outstanding quality at a similar price and, unless I have no choice, I'll stick with those.

I just graduated from college and feel like I'm moving on to the next stages of my life as a man. I am very excited about the future, but I need to be ready for the work force which means the closest, cleanest shave I can get. Don't get my wrong, within the past two years I've kept a conservative look to attain jobs on campus, but now it's time to step up my game. This has been the closest shave of my life; we're talking baby soft. This kind of shaving requires a bit of practice and technique, I've definitely had a few nicks on the neck, but is worth the time and effort.

I can honestly say that I get excited about shaving! I feel like I'm using a tried and true product rather than the disposable, multiple blade systems that leave my skin irritated and burned. Keeping it short and sweet - look at my review about double edge or wet shaving. you should have gained two important points - once you master your shaving form and once you find the right blade for you - life is good. if you use or like any of the following stainless steel (not chrome) razors - ASCO, BIG BEN, SHARK - and you get a great shave with those blades - then the Derby Blades are for you. why? they work just as well as those brands (and probably many other stainless steel blades!) but they are much, much cheaper. for example just searching amazon you should find 100 blades for bucks with a free shaving soap and free shipping thrown in!! search the internet (chat rooms, shaving clubs and other websites) and you may find them at a cheaper price!! again, going with the points I have listed - and you have truly tried other brands - you may find it to be an outstanding blade - on the cheap!!
