It came time to "invest" in new blades for my electric razor that "shaves as close as a blade" again, and I decided to go back to the Gillete safety razor made in the 1950's my father had abandoned years ago. I liked the results, and the cheap blades, so much better than the electric that I went out and bought this one. It's a solid peice of simplicity, and didn't take long to get used to. The Merkur blade was nice, but I switched it out for Derby's. Don't. Go looking for "Shark" blades. You can get them in lots of 100 cheap, and they're just as good as the Merkur one. They're Indian made instead of German, though, if that means anything to you.

Customer Reviews

Love it - S. B. Scott - NY, NY
I love this razor. I've been using (and cursing) disposables all my life. I bought this out of desperation and have been delighted ever since. Shaving is fun again! No more razor burns or ingrown hairs. I have to admit there is an added aspect of... well... manliness about shaving with a safety razor.
I found out I can get the blades at almost any dollar store (not at the big chains, though, like Target). Cheap, fun, and uplifting. I'd recommend this to anyone.
